Imagine being nineteen and working at one of the world's largest nightclubs. I worked as a Page Boy, and that was great, but I had just finished photography school. One night I took some pictures from the light booth and showed them to the manager of the club, wallah! I was given another task, Publicity Photographer. My Page Boy functions allowed a close relationship with the performers, and in some cases that friendly relationship extended beyond the club.
I would like to share some pictures from that experience. There are so many pictures that I will have to select just a few, of which I hope you enjoy.

Sophie Tucker and Ted Lewis. This picture was taken on Ted's opening night. The night before Sophie Tucker became ill. I took a picture of the incident, and the rushed on stage to help her off. Her last performance picture will be added to the site later.
The dinning room of the Latin Quarter was a wall of mirrors. Sadly this was Jane's last New York appearance. The ghostly image in the mirror at the left of the picture is almost prophetic. Jane was killed in and auto accident a week later. She was one of the kindest persons I have ever met.

Frommy exhibit entitled Social Contrast In The Black Community at the Ledel Gallery in Soho 1985. It is hard to believe that people were actually living at this property, but the young man entering the building was returning home from a neighborhood store..
