Cliff Chandler does it again, this time with the sequel to The Paragons. If you liked The Paragons you'll love Vengeance Is Mine... And as usual, author Cliff Chandler continues his journey of twist and turns; just when you think you've got it; you learn that you are wrong. The tragedy at the beginning of this story has disturbed so many of his fans that Cliff was forced to bring Honey back. It was a difficult task, but also a fun task. Honey is as tough as she is beautiful. It seems that she was seriously injured, but not murdered as we were led to believe. Her recovery is believable but we won't learn how it is possible until his next book, so climb onboard and enjoy Vengeance Is Mine, and then wait patiently for his next book. Veangeance Is Mine, or is it?

Chandler's third book of  the Vic Morgan series was published in March of 2003. He says that he is a fan of Sir Authur Conan Doyle, and like Doyle he has a couple of bad guys that he can't get rid of. Then there is the beautiful "Honey" who fought her way back into the series. Chandler promises us many more thrills in the future.

Sorry, I can't tell you how she returns, you will have to wait fo the book, but you will understand why she is retruning after you read Vengeance Is Mine. Hold on Devastated has arrived and Chandler is working on the fourth book of the series.

It starts as the perfect honeymoon, but turns into a nightmare for Vic Morgan. Then the trap door opens and a whole new cast of demons crawl out, some of which are inside Vic's head, giving him the fight of his life. And as we found in The paragons, Chandler's characters are seldom what they seem. This novel is explosive, and one not to be missed, because Vic is back... with a  vengeance.

Vengeance Is Mine... Excerpt: 2

The ocean  was a mirror of reflections, blurred starlight bouncing off soft waves. Honey turned her back to the rail and pulled Vic closer. He resisted a little, and she urged him forward. Vic wrapped his arms around Honey as a tropical breeze blew across the deck. In response, she brushed and tickled the soft hair of his forearm and leaned into his chest. The waves softly lapped against "The Beth" and released an enticing scent of the sea into the air -- not the sea one smells on land, but a different, enchanting fragrance. They felt the Yacht shift course and rock a little, but the only sound was the soft purring of the engines propelling "The Beth" through the water. Vic eased Honey back against the rail and tightened his arms around her; there was nothing subtle about his intentions. Vic lifted the edge of her skirt with the tips of his fingers as he moved forward. His silk pajamas brushed against her naked thighs enhancing the magic of the moment. The Beth rocked rocked in the rolling swells, while Vic and Honey created their own motions of the sensual moments engulfing them in a timless encounter that left them exhausted.

Chapter  1
Vengeance Excerpt: 1

It appeared on the horizion, first as a ghostly cloud emerging from the depths as if it was riding on the shoulders of Aphrodite and Poseidon. But this was no ghost. The Beth, one hundred sixty-one feet of figerglass  luxury, her bow honed to a knife edge, is an Evviva class yacht. She has five staterooms, accomodates ten, and a crew of seven. The early risers and the all-nighters were the first to spot her crusing into the habor, and word spread like wildfire that the boat had arrived. They hadn't seen anything like the Beth since Malcom Forbes Highlander's last visit. The Beth sailed straight in, so they couldn't see the helicopter pad on her rear deck, nor could they see the garage below deck, stuffed with all kinds of toys. The Captain chose a deep-water anchorage at Trumbo Point, just off Mustin Street; the deep water would provide a certain amount of security. He toggled the twin 900hp Alaskan diesels until the boat was just inside the habor and dropped anchor. By this time a small crowd had gathered to gawk at the huge yacht.

A Crewmember lowered the motor launch and tied it to the gang-plank. An audible murmur of surprise rose from the crowd when Honey and Vic appeared and made their way towards the launch. The Crewman helped Honey aboard and waited for Vic to join them. Someone in the crowd remarked that Vic was "probably a football jock," and another person in the crowd agreed. Vic looked every inch a football player, and nothing like his real occupation, a New York City detective. Honey on the other hand looked like Jane Kennedy in her prime. The big yacht and the beautiful black couple wasn't your everyday "fit," but there they were, and there it was, " The Beth," a gleaming white symbol of luxury -- everything on it white --- but its owners. Vic waved to the crowd, and Honey smiled. The response was immediate and unanimous, a loud, approving cheer. The only exception, a stone-faced man within the crowd who slithered to a pay phone and called San Juan; he had recognized Vic as the cop who had cost him ten  long years in prison.

Juan replaced the receiver and said "Damn!"
"Que pasa?"
"Medicon! Putano, mardre..."
"Juan, what is it?"
"That fuckin' cop, that nigger is coming here!"
"So what? You got a new face. He won't even recognize you. Besides you got the the cops in your pocket," Lisa said.
"Not when it come to cops, they look out for each other."
"Maybe in New York, but this is San Juan, think about it," she said.
"Get this, he's coming here in a big fuckin' yacht. He's the one who stole the Cartel's money..."
"Yeah," she said.
"Imagine coming here with that yacht... he's got big balls. That's his ass! You don't fuck with our money and get away with it. All I got to do is tell Manero and our problems are over."
"Come here, baby. You're so smart." Lisa pulled Juan closer and slipped her hand under his shirt.

Vengeance Is Mine by Cliff Chandler

RAW Rating: 4 (out of 5)

Vengeance Is Mine by Cliff Chandler is a fast paced novel of love, hate and revenge that takes place in the United States and the Caribbean. Vic Morgan and his wife Honey, are on their honeymoon in San Juan when thugs who want to kill Vic, a policeman, murder her. Vic doesn't escape for very long. Soon he, too, is a victim of the drug dealers and the chase is on. His friend, Jess Norman, grieves the loss of his fellow officer and partner and vows to find those responsible.

Against a backdrop of high-class money launderers, drug cartels, plastic surgery, reformed crooks and devious policemen it is often difficult to tell the good guys from the bad. The good reaches into the depths of evil and the bad stretches high into government. No one is ever what he or she seems on the surface. It is a reflection of life as it really is  not as we'd like it to be. The plot twists and turns and keeps the reader's attention. It is a definite page-turner.
